hybrid tankadin Empty
PostSubject: hybrid tankadin   hybrid tankadin EmptyTue Jul 08, 2008 9:09 am

hey i though of a half prot/ret spec for a tankadin, thats wat im heading in right now (at least until lv cap), the only thing is u cant have avenger shield but u'd never miss mana and it would make a great treat maker spec

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/paladin/talents.html?tal=0000000000000000000005005033520000520003000520505032200100300000

i only put pt in most usefull things to eat hits so no expertise bonus or chance hit bonus
but the pally would make more holy dmg (so its getting prety much equal) and he can last longer in mana cuz he regenerates the mana used on shield

wat do u think about it?

I'm not an expert at all when it comes to Pallies, let alone Prot ones, but here's a couple of things I noticed about your spec: study Idea

1) You said:
Quote :

Well, Eye for an Eye doesn't eat the hits, it merely returns some damage taken to the caster, on spells. I think you could get more aggro generated by Holy Shield/Avenger's Shield.

2) Prot Pallies (from what I've noticed) don't really need a lot of mana to keep aggro once they have it. The mana they get from being healed should be enough to use all of your abilities. If this is not the case, perhaps set up a Judgement of Wisdom rotation for yourself.

3) Stoicism is not really that useful for anything but PvP. There may be a boss fight or two where the boss may dispell things off of himself, but those are few and far between.

4) scratch You've specced into two different auras, both for increased holy damage. You can only use one at a time, so don't spec into both.

5) Pursuit of Justice: imo, there's much better places to spend your talents for tanking.

6) Conviction: effects chance to get melee critical strikes. Now, from what I've heard, most of your aggro/damage will not come from the physical damage (unless you're a 2-hander Ret Pally), but rather the Seal of Righteousness that you imbue yourself with. Although, your spells can't get all of the aggro by themselves; thus I suggest the one-handed spec down in Protection tree.

Now that I've sent up a "Wall 'o text", Sleep here's the spec that I came up with:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/paladin/talents.html?tal=0000000000000000000005005033500001525215510502500100000000000000

Now, the goal I had with this spec was to increase the aggro that you would dish out, as well as increasing your health, rather than minimizing the spell damage that you occasionally come across.

--Getting Combat Expertise makes it so that the mob won't dodge as often. The reason this is nice is that if the mob dodges, you melee attack doesn't hit, and your Seal doesn't hit; potentially a big loss of aggro.
--Blessing of Sanctuary reduces the damage you take in from all sources. This sort of covers the talents from ret you had, while also making it so that you do addional damage when you block.
--Avenger's Shield/Holy Shield... you just gotta have them. pirat
--2/3 Imp Seal of the Crusader/Seal of Command. This is where my Paladin knowledge fails me. I don't know how useful Seal of Righteousness is, and whether Seal of Command has more benefits to it. If SoC isn't better than SoR, I'd say drop it and pick up a third point in Imp Seal of the Crusader.

With all of that said, cheers if you really do need the mana more than I think you do for tanking, I'd say spec into Holy for the extra Int, and maybe even get Imp SoR. You can skimp on One-handed Spec in order to get them, I believe (again, I'm not the expert afro).

I hope that this was helpful in some way, and I didn't misunderstand your intentions with what you were needing. Suspect Those who know more than I do about this topic, please correct me on my errors!

tkx for advices! actualy the spec i post is mostly a lving spec (so pursuit of justice is mostly for my own entertainment lol)

the weird thing i found into pally is that they got usefull tanking talent in every lines like pursuit of justice that also reduce chance to get hit by spell by 3% or even that resist to fear in holy line

ur right about the expertise/hit rating etc... thats y i was trying to balence it wit somthing else like eye for an eye and sanc aura (ret aura was to help wit aoe)

it is sure that a half prot/ret spec cant work in higher lv stuff
the main goal of it was a good lving spec to b able to both tank and dps instances but i was wondering how it would go in highter lv stuff... actualy starting from lv 60/61, i noticed that i have lot more prob keeping agro, the spec was only very good from lv 50 to 60, im almost never oom, unless i have to spam concecration)

and if i would choose a fully prot spec, this would b better (just a lil difference wit urs)

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/paladin/talents.html?tal=0000000000000000000005305033500001525215510500500000000000000000

cuz seal of the crusader totaly sucks, it never proc and when tanking u dont rly have time to use seal of the crusader unless the group let u the time to use it, so i'd bedder spend my pt in more hit chance

That is a good switch. The main reason I picked up the Imp SotC was for the crit chance for the rest of the party, which is great to help dps things down, if you don't need the extra threat generated.

Though, I'm surprised I missed precision in Protection. XD Again, good call.

i dont think seal of the crusader work for everyone cuz when 2 pally release it, it makes 2 debuffs instead of refreching the debuff duration (i'm rly not sure of this though, cuz at the time i noticed it, maybe it wasnt the same spell rank)
